On October 5, 2017, Adventures Await was hauled out at Great Lakes Marina in Muskegon. It all went smoothly, and she was placed in front of Building #3. The anti-fouling paint, VC Offshore, which was applied in the spring did remarkably well. It is an unusual anti fouling paint for a boat in the Great Lakes, but because it is vinyl based no other bottom paint would stick to it unless it was sand blasted off first – a very expensive proposition. I applied it in the spring to see how it would do for the year and it did well. I was afraid too much algae would stick to it as it is not particularly suited to keep algae at bay, but it was not bad other than at the waterline and towards the bow. I was quite happy about this!
She is now nestled in her cradle at Great Lakes and soon we will take all the canvas and sail off and put the winter cover on.
